The Deck Shield Safety Netting by Cardinal Gates is a child safety product designed to be used on decks, balconies and railings. This item comes in clear or black and arrives complete with zip ties to secure it to your posts or railing. It is made from a "high strength commercial plastic material."

You can purchase it in 15, 30 and 50 foot rolls. The netting is 36" tall, the height of many average deck rails. We purchased the 50 foot roll version of this product for testing from Amazon (the best price we found). The deck netting arrived in one large roll with a bag including instructions and zip ties.

We left the netting in one large piece, and attached it with zip ties to the railing posts as we unrolled it. This process worked pretty well, but the netting isn't exactly in a perfectly straight line, so, we did have some warping, not so much to be a problem though. It took us approximately 2 hours to secure all the netting.

The 2 year old product tester was at first curious about the "little squares" that covered the openings of the deck. She touched them for awhile, then resumed playing. It appears that this item would help prevent a child from sticking their head through the space in the railing, but not from them lifting it up at the bottom (which is not secured) and dropping toys through. The bottom of the netting simply rests on the top of the deck floor boards. All in all, we would recommend this to a friend.
